55 for 5 is an outdoor challenge to help raise much-needed funds for people living with leukaemias, lymphomas, myeloma and related blood disorders. Every day 6 people in Queensland are diagnosed with one of these illnesses. The Leukaemia Foundation is challenging YOU to raise a minimum of $555 and complete a 55km bushwalk through the Sunshine Coast's Great Walk track in two days.

55 for 5 “isn’t a walk in the park”. It is a demanding hike that is achievable by all age groups.

1st day covers 32.5km - Mapleton National Park

What are the rules of the event?

  1. All participants must be aged 18 or above on 23 August 2013.
  2. Running or jogging is prohibited as part of 55 for 5.  It is a condition of our permit to hike in the national park that participants do not run or jog.
  3. 55 for 5 is a group activity.  All hikers are required to stay within their assigned group and observe the directions of walk leader. If an individual fails to observe the direction of the walk leader, 55 for 5 is no longer responsible for the individual.
  4. Under no circumstances are individuals to be left unaccompanied. If an individual becomes exhausted or injured they must liaise with the walk leader.
  5. The Leukaemia Foundation reserves the right to alter the trail without notice and/or cancel/postpone the event. If the event is cancelled participants can request a 50% refund of their registration fee.
  6. Please do not litter. Participants must respect the environment and other walkers by taking all rubbish with them.
  7. Dogs and smoking are not permitted in National Parks.
  8. Each hiker must raise a minimum of $555 in addition to the non-tax deductible and non-refundable registration fee to participate in the event.
